The bell rang throughout the school, echoing loudly for all to hear and for all to know that class had indeed come to an end. The time had come for all to head about their separate ways, whatever it was they wished to do now that they had some free time away from the classrooms and pencils and papers or alternatively, away from the gym halls and sports grounds. People poured out of every corner of the school and filled up the hallways quickly, though many had left just as quickly, going about their business at a faster pace than the rest. The hallways were still filled with people, but by far less crowded, most people just standing and talking by lockers, taking and removing books and putting them in or taking them out of their bags. At any rate, anyone who was still in the hallways had a reason for being there.
One in particular however was in the hallways not because he wanted to be, but rather he was trying to remember the right corridors to go down and where he was meant to go, scurrying about like a lost little mouse. He looked about, checking numbers on lockers before inspecting the key he possessed in his hands. "Locker number 108..." he murmured to himself beneath his breath, looking about. These lockers were in the range of 050 to 099, so he couldn't be too far, at least. Walking down the hallways, avoiding eye contact with other people, he reached the end of the hallway and looked around the corner, spotting at last his own locker standing over to one side. A small locker both above and below and beside other lockers.
Stepping close to it, he pushed his key into the lock built into the locker and turned it, opening the locker without problems. Gazing into the locker, he spotted his other books he'd placed in here when he was first given his locker, before looking down to the books beneath his arm. Lifting them up, he pushed them inside neatly before using his free hand to push his glasses up his nose as they threatened to fall down. He briefly looked within his locker, seeing how neat and orderly it all was. He tried to be neat and tidy when he could, or at least in a manner that befitted him best. He tried to organize things as well as he could, because he was always worried of the what-ifs in life, like what if he didn't arrange his books properly and ended up losing them? That was one good example relevant to now.
Pushing his locker closed, he twisted the key and locked it again, before putting the key in his pocket. Taking a step back, he turned to walk away, only to end up accidentally bumping into someone who had been walking down the hallway, before suddenly jumping back in surprise. Why was it he seemed to keep bumping into people now since he'd arrived at the school? It was his own awkwardness, he figured. He was still unused to the school and he was still unused to people. He didn't know how to deal with the fact that there were now large groups of people always surrounding him, albeit his paranoia had him almost convinced they were also always judging him. Always looking at him as if to say 'I'm keeping my eye on you, because you're new'. A terrifying thought if there ever was one.
"S-Sorry..." he apologized, hoping whomever he'd bumped into wouldn't hold it against him.

Shiny. Shiny SHiny SHIny SHINy SHINY!
That’s the recurring thought that ran through the hyper teenager’s head. Kaylin McOlster. Better known as Kit, was up to her wonderful antics once again. Her feet carried her through the hallways, her legs moving with the ease and grace of a performer but with the strength and speed of a frantic gazelle. Looked like insanity was drawing near. A wide-eyed look, the girl never took her attention off her prize. She ran, that much was true. Turning down the hallways every which way in order to continue onwards, but she barely paid any mind to what was going on. Running into people here, just jumping over a person there, dashing around a corner or two.
People. People everywhere. Coming out of classrooms, going to another. Everyone had their own agenda, even this young miss. Although… Her focus didn’t seem to be on anything partially serious. No learning, no attendance… Just mere focus on something she held in her hands. Gentle as if holding a prized gem, but protective enough to have been her only child.
What this young woman held was very simple. A yo-yo. A young child’s plaything. It was smooth, round, shiny, it spun if you could handle it correctly. It fascinated and excited her. As soon as she spotted the thing, she had to hold it. Basically like she had been drawn to it! Well… for now. Until her attention dwindled and something else took her attention.
Which slowly… something was. In the back of her mind, she could hear the even rhythm behind her. A pursuer. She didn’t care enough to look back, it hadn’t even fully registered in her conscious mind yet. But someone was following Kit’s steps, whether closely or far behind. See… This yo-yo did not belong to her. Sadly, Kit has a habit of picking up random objects and making off with them. They are discarded shortly after, being left in any sort of place she happens to be. This being said, if she happens to grab something important to someone, they may just follow after her. Like this time.
A face. She knew that face! Brachyura! She had just passed him. Well… ran down through the hallway like a nut and made sure that people got out of her way or that she cleared them. Screeching to a halt, she retraced her steps with the same speed and moved in to hug her partner from the side. Her yo-yo still safely in her right hand, she found him apologizing once again. This kid was always sorry for something. He shouldn’t worry so much.
“Brachyura! Are you causing problems?” A big childish grin on her face, the young woman moved a step away, giving some space between them. She hadn’t forgotten her yo-yo, but it was farther from the center of her mind, that was for sure. Her thoughts had changed, attention shifted. Same old Kit.

She'd slipped somewhere into the crowd of useless people, she knew that much. But she was hot on her heels and, needless to say, she was pretty damn pissed. It seemed that both of these girls had little heed for the people around them in that cramped hallway, but the one leading at the very least cleared the path for her pursuer, who would have shoved them aside with even less regard had they gotten in her way. God save anyone who did that. Normally, Austin maintained a passive-aggressive manner towards her peers at this school, and often even the authority figures. But as it were, she would have pushed even that Shinigami to the side if he stepped so much as an inch within her path. You see, the girl she was chasing had something quite dear to her. To most people, it was just a child's plaything, bland in all regards. But unlike a regular yo-yo one could buy at just about any toy store, this was a particularly special one; not only had it not been produced since the 1940s, but it also belonged to a man who was rather dear to Austin. A man who she had watched as he was dragged up a flight of stairs to his gruesome and rather untimely death. One of his fingers were spit down before she could finally move. That yo-yo was one of her father's, and some horrible bitch had taken it. In fact, it was the very horrible bitch she was chasing, of course. She left it sitting in her bag, and evidently it had fallen out when she'd stepped away for two seconds to pick up the stack of her books, which were quite heavy. Figuring that it would be an unreasonable amount of strain to have weight on her front and back, she'd put down her bag until she came back. But when she came back, she noticed a girl- this girl- walking down the hallway, looking quite pleased with herself. Thus was why she was hunting her down like a dog. She wouldn't be chasing her if she hadn't wronged her in some way. She didn't have enough interest in anyone to chase them down- not like this. As it were, she was positively hell-bent on finding this whore and righting the wrong. Perhaps with a few bruises, if the situation called for it. And when she noticed that the girl had come to a halt, she hurried through the rest of the idiots milling about and broke through the last line to her. Her left forearm was quick to shift into a baseball bat- her weapon form- while her right hand made a grab for the back of the punk girl's shirt. Glaring daggers at the back of her head, she leaned in, real close, and whispered with a voice colder than ice, “ Where the hell is my yo-yo?” credit `` columba of on the edge! | [atrb=width,110px][atrb=style,padding: 20 20 20 0;][atrb=cellpadding,0][atrb=cellspacing,0] do you know the name of the winner?

"Wha-" Ethan's face flushed crimson as he felt a pair of arms wrap around him from the sight, hugging him tightly before releasing him a second later. It had been brief, yes, and only a simple hug, but for someone like Ethan it still felt awkward nonetheless. Of course, Ethan was an awkward person by nature, unused to such things as girls hugging him, let alone people talking to him. Nevertheless, as she stepped away, Ethan fixed his glasses to get a clearer look and saw it was his new Meister and the first person he'd met since arriving in Shibusen - Kaylin McOlster. Or Kit, as she liked to be known as. He was still unsure which name to call her - he felt more relaxed using her ordinary name, but if she preferred to be called Kit, would Kaylin seem too formal?
A glint of light caught his eye amidst his thoughts and suddenly he cast his vision downwards, spying a yo-yo in her right hand. Where she had got it he could only guess, though she may have probably bought it at a toy shop or something. It seemed to be in very good condition, so Ethan of course couldn't help but mistake it for being brand new. But before he would comment on it, she posed him a question - Had he been causing problems? Ethan blinked a few times before correcting his glasses again, looking up towards her with a bit of a puzzled look for a moment. "Um... I don't... I don't think so, at least not intentionally..." he mumbled. Admittedly, he hadn't. The apology had practically been an instinctive thing at this stage.
Before he could continue further however, he looked back to Kaylin, only to spot over her shoulder another girl closing in - a girl bearing a hateful, angry expression on her face, perhaps even seething as she seemed to step in close while moving to grab Kaylin's clothes. Ethan didn't even have time to warn Kaylin as the girl leaned in close to her ear whilst simultaneously transforming her hand into a sort of club-like object - She was a weapon, like him. But unlike him, she was more or less ready to use her weapon transformation at a moment's notice. Though the girl had been intending to speak only to Kaylin, Ethan had ended up hearing her demand to know where exactly Kaylin had kept her yo-yo. All of a sudden, the now innocent-looking trinket seemed to hold much greater importance.
'Her yo-yo? Does that mean... Kaylin stole it? No, I don't think Kaylin would be the kind to steal. If it had been dropped somewhere though and she found it...' Ethan thought it over to himself. He could definitely imagine Kaylin taking interest in any random thing she spotted and picking it up. The yo-yo would probably not be exempt from that either. Casting his glance back to the threatening, angry-looking woman, he debated whether or not to speak up, though his meek nature made him feel weak standing in her presence. Still, to defend his friend at least, he made some sort of effort. "Um... I'm sure this is a misunderstanding... K-Kaylin, where did you find the yo-yo?" he stuttered a little bit, hoping to act as some sort of mediator. As though he had the conversation skills required for that kind of position.

Brachyura made her smile, was a friend of hers that she thoroughly enjoyed. Even if they hadn’t known one another for very long, or even spent much time together, she knew that he was just fascinating! Sure… She’d have to break him of all that nervousness, cause somewhere underneath that was an even more awesomeness! A bright and excited remaining on the female’s lips as her mind raced with thoughts about her friend.
She even still smiled when she felt a bit of restriction from behind her. Like someone had grabbed onto her clothing or something. It was interesting, something new entering her mind. It never really hit her that it was her pursuer, her thoughts hadn’t gone that far yet. Well… not until the girl spoke. Where was her yo-yo? Ah. This was the owner of the shiny?! Her smile grew even bigger, her eyes widening with the realization. Her hand gripped harder onto the yo-yo. Kit knew little about what real danger she was in. She was happy, and no one was going to pull her back from that.
But… she did want that dang hand off her back. It wasn’t really where she wanted to be. And maybe even facing the other person would be better. Who knew right? So… She threw her own skull as hard as she could in the direction where the voice was coming from. Collide heads maybe? Maybe not? She didn’t know nor care, just a simple reaction and the first step to getting her out of someone else’s grip. No one was going to hold her still. No one. Directly after the movement of just her head, Kit made a hard and sharp turn on her heel. Forcing her whole body, strength, speed, and any momentum she could muster, the young meister tried spinning 180 degrees in order to 1. Get the girl’s hold off and 2. Face the girl. A grin was still on her face, like nothing was amiss and this was all fun. The turn had been hard, chances are the girl would let go, her clothing would tear, or she would jerk the girl off balance. That is… if clashing skulls didn’t do anything first.
Then, to answer the female’s question she spoke loudly and in a confident, annoying voice. “RIGHT HERE!” she basically hollered, anyone in the hall that had hearing would probably catch her words. As well as speak, Kit struck a pose. Hand that held the yo-yo straight up in the air, her other hand on her hip with her feet about shoulder width apart. For a second, she had her eyes up at the yo-yo, but in the next second she was facing Austin, that same wide grin on her face.
Sadly, with the whole yo-yo ordeal, Kit had missed most of her partner’s reaction. His words had registered somewhere in her mind, but she didn’t catch his blushing. Probably all the better for him, in the mood she was in, she might have commented on how he looked like her toy firetruck from when she was small. He had turned so red! But that was not the case. Even him feeling uncomfortable with her contact had been lost to her. She took this all as normal, why should she assume he wasn’t happy with it? Also, the fact that she had merely asked him if he had been causing trouble as a joke had been lost to both of them. She knew better than to think that Brachyura would cause any trouble. He worried too much for that. But she thought he might get a little kabobbled by the question.
She missed any change in expression, her back pretty much to him. But she caught his words. Mainly because she heard yo-yo. YAY YO-YOS! But then the question entered her mind. Where did she find the shiny? That pretty much caused her to freeze. No more did she have her attention on the angry one or on Brachyura. Where did she find it… Where…..? A faint blank look in her eyes, concentration instantly taking up the whole expression of her face. She had no clue, she didn’t remember. And why should she!? The shiny was the important part, not the where! Silly Brachyura… At this thought, she smiled. Then laughed. A joyous laugh that caused her to bring both arms and wrap them around her stomach. “I don’t know, silly!” Completely unaware and uncaring of the danger that stood right in front of her face.

[/b]" was her response, but before she was able to finish, the stupid girl in front of her made a move to jerk back. Luckily enough, her time in the hell house had sharpened her reflexes somewhat. Sure, the kishin didn't intend to kill her- not for a while, at least- but at times it sure did seem convincing on the contrary. All the same, she released her grip and jumped back, hardly looking pleased. What was this girl's deal? That smile. She wanted nothing but to knock out those teeth, right now. Her fist clenched, an audible crack coming from her knuckles. Then the girl struck a pose, a horribly annoying one at that, and produced the yo-yo. So she hadn't lost it; good. This could still be negotiated. " Okay, then. Now hand it over." It wasn't a request so much as a command, like someone was talking to their dog in a rather harsh tone of voice after they'd run off with something special. She didn't have to add anything along the lines of an "or else," because the acid that dripped from her words was enough to imply what would happen if it weren't returned. Given that this girl was smart enough to comprehend that, anyway. It wasn't a very difficult concept, really: put the yo-yo back in her hand, and she would leave. She might even try to act like it never happened, though if this girl ever pissed her off this much again, she couldn't say that she would be so merciful, based on this event. Mercy was such a hard thing to grant, especially someone as irritating as this girl. But for now, she would try to solve this peacefully, if at all possible. As much as she liked bashing things in, and as much as she didn't like this girl, she would rather not get punished. After all, she was the victim here. But if she took off running, there would be no promises of this peace being maintained. For her sake, she hoped she would just give the damned thing back. " The yo- yo must have fallen out of my bag when I turned my back for just a minute to put away some books," she said. " It fell on the floor, and you picked it up. I want back what' s mine." She looked to the boy that seemed to be trying to resolve the situation. From the looks of things, he knew her. " Does that sound like such an unreasonable request to you?" she added to him, making an attempt to mask the contempt in her voice. credit `` columba of on the edge![/div][/td] [td][atrb=width,110px][atrb=style,padding: 20 20 20 0;][atrb=cellpadding,0][atrb=cellspacing,0] do you know the name of the winner? Ethan almost gasped in astonishment as Kaylin managed to force the girl behind her away, nearly smacking her head into the other girl's face as she suddenly moved, forcing the girl back as she turned to face her and struck a pose, holding the yo-yo high in the air whilst declaring it to be right there. Ethan paled, astonished by Kaylin's bold actions. He hadn't expected quite a... dramatic action whilst revealing the yo-yo. Still, at least it was proof Kaylin did indeed possess the yo-yo, holding it up for all to see. In any case, it seemed the girl had definitely recognized it as hers, declaring so before demanding it back again. The venom in her words made Ethan practically gulp even though they weren't exactly directed at him - he was concerned for his friend after all.
"I... I see." he responded to Kaylin as he fixed his glasses. He probably should have expected so - she wasn't the kind to remember those kind of details. She was a little childish, in that sense. Or maybe she was very childish, but he didn't want to think condescendingly. Positive thoughts, after all. Well, in any case, since it belonged to the girl, he figured they could just give it back now and no harm would be done. Speaking of which, the girl was quick to add her own comment on the situation, remarking that Kaylin must have grabbed it as it fell out of her bag whilst putting books in her locker. A simple misunderstanding, that was all. Well, at least nothing bad would happen.
"Um... Alright then... Kaylin? I think you should give her her yo-yo back then..." he advised her, whilst internally he hoped she did without incident. After all, he didn't want his Meister getting in trouble with this other girl over the yo-yo. Hopefully they could return it and continue on with their day.

The young woman who claimed to own the shiny seemed to avoid her attack with ease. Not that Kit actually meant to harm her, she just didn’t want to be held. It was restricting, like trying to hold back her joy or something. But now all was as it should be. Her shiny nicely in her hand, free of anyone holding onto her, and Brachyura was here! Austin was far from happy, she was raging. Sadly, Kit did not notice this one bit. It never occurred to her, that Austin was angry with her for taking the yo-yo. Cat and mouse, they had been playing a game!
She spoke, telling Kit to hand over the yo-yo. Now… if one knew Kit, which apparently neither of them did, she wasn’t exactly an orders kind of girl. Not that she wanted to disobey authority or get herself in trouble, but she had a child-like and game mindset. It was all fun and play, and if someone told her to do something, she was likely to do the other. Unless it was simon says, then she darn would listen! The command was taken just as expected, with a bright smile and a laugh. The harsh tone was lost to her, she didn’t even notice the anger. In all truth, anger was hard for her to comprehend. Why be angry when you could be happy?
Shaking her head, she let both of her hands slide behind her back, yo-yo still in tow. She wasn’t giving that to Austin. Not just like that. What kind of game would that be? Austin continued speaking then, explaining how the yo-yo must have gotten into Kit’s possession. The words barely passed through the young meister’s ears and mind. She didn’t really care. Sure, that sounded like how she remembered the shiny, but then again… she really did forget. And it didn’t matter! The past could only matter so much, and right now, she cared very little for it. The game was here and now! FOCUS
In response to her not knowing where the yo-yo had come from though… Ethan must have muttered something, she faintly remembered it before Austin’s explanation… Had he said something she should know? Twisting her head a bit, looking over her shoulder somewhat to look at her partner, she couldn’t help but smile at the nervous and shy male. So stuttery! She thought, almost laughing. He really was. Brachyura was nervous about probably everything, but he still let her be herself. She loved him for that!
Then he spoke again, this time she heard him loud and clear. Give the yo-yo back? Confusion crossed her features for a split second. This turn in the game was unexpected! She didn’t even see it coming. Like monkey in the middle! Ethan was her opponent now too! Laughing, Kit dodged to the opposite end of the hallway, a few simple movements. She just wanted space between herself and her two competitors. Bringing her hands in front of her once again, she looked to the yo-yo quickly, then back up towards Austin and Ethan. “What good is a game if you end it before it starts?” Kit wasn’t all stupid, just oblivious and… idiotic. But she knew if she gave back that yo-yo, the girl was leaving and wasn’t coming back. The reasoning behind this was all lost to her mind, but the fact remained. Her game would not continue if the yo-yo was returned!
