Pretend those pretty green eyes are brown.

She is exactly five feet tall, and ninety-seven pounds. Her hair is cut short, with longer bangs on either side of her face. (see picture; I suck with descriptions.) During the summer, her hair gets lighter (partly from pool chlorine), and subtle, natural reddish-brown highlights appear in her hair from frequent exposure to the sun. She may be skinny, but she is well-muscled from years of training on her foster parents’ estate before she and her brother arrived at the academy. When it’s warm, she usually wears a white or black tank top with a purple floral design. She is always, always wearing dark-coloured, low-rise, bootcut jeans with a black leather studded belt, no matter the weather. She wears the same black and purple tennis shoes all year round. Mei has a deep purple cat-ear knit hat she wears when teachers aren’t telling her to take it off indoors. On missions, she often wears a simple navy blue, over-sized University of Michigan hoodie, her jeans and tennis shoes. Hooray for non-movement-restricting-clothing? Mei also wears other kinds of over-sized U of M hoodies when it's cold outside. After Mei and her brother left for Death City, she got her ears pierced (as a sign of rebellion against her foster parents) and wears heart-shaped amethyst studs in the first holes and smaller diamond ones in the second. She only ever takes them off to clean them. In case you haven’t noticed, she likes purple quite a bit. Personality: Mei keeps on a strict diet to keep her weight down because she thinks it will help her be faster in the field. At least she tries to keep it strict. Here’s an example: one time she tried to go vegetarian, (because she thought it would help her lose weight) and she only lasted a week and a half. Mei absolutely loves meat, and wouldn’t give up steak or bacon-cheddar cheeseburgers for the world. She is a ravenous eater despite her delicate appearance, and seems to have a bottomless pit for a stomach. Mei loves making friends, and tries to get to know people who usually keep to themselves. That’s somewhat hypocritical, though—when she’s in a class with nobody she knows, she always stays quiet and out of the way. She always finds time to hang out with her friends, which sometimes leads to procrastinating on doing homework. But that doesn’t mean she’s stupid. She loves to go outside, and will drag her friends outdoors if it’s a nice day. Mei would take them biking in the local parks, if she actually had a bike. Her previous one was totalled when some bonehead flattened it when he drove up onto the sidewalk. In class, she pays well enough attention, but can sometimes be distracted by random things, like looking out the window, doodling on her paper margins, or just lost in her own thoughts. I guess you could say her head is a bit too often in the clouds. She’ll never skip the chance to explore and learn about new places and things, especially if it has something to do with science, a subject she loves and excels at. Mei is a flexible, athletic girl, but wouldn’t call her sports a hobby, except for her swimming and biking. She’s a strong sprinter, but lacks in the stamina department. She runs a mile or two every evening out of habit, unless she has something planned with her friends or something like that. She also has an affinity for art, but she only shows her drawings and paintings to her brother because she’s afraid of what her friends might think. She really only draws canines and felines. So, I guess, long story short, Mei is a fun-loving, timid, active, creative, smart, head-in-clouds kind of girl. Who thinks she’s too fat. Likes: Aforementioned activities, food, food, reading, food, science-fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, mystery, and action/adventure genres, food, the Star Wars saga, Disney movies, playing video games (namely Pokemon. Does that exist in Soul Eater-world? XP), writing, and potatoes. PO-TAY-TOE. Dislikes: Large insects and arachnids, centi/millipedes (or are there just centipedes?), rude people, perspiration, having to sit still for more than an hour (unless she has a book or something), tomatoes, and pickles. History: Mei and her brother never knew their birth parents. As babies, they were put up for adoption because their mother was too young to take care of them. Mei and her brother were quickly adopted by the Newmans, a well-to-do couple that lived on a large plot of land in Michigan. Helen and Jim, their foster parents, told them their mother was Japanese and their father was some deadbeat from Illinois that must’ve been a demon weapon because their mother wasn’t. Helen and Jim had always planned for Mei and her brother to attend Shibusen, so even as young children they began training. But it was more strategic study—the physical tutelage would begin in later years. Mei was always a happy girl, and never really wondered what her biological mother was like, because she was completely content with the ones she had. When she was four, her foster parents gave her a kitten for her birthday (and a dog for her brother). Tending the cat taught Mei a lot of the compassion and caring she has today. The cat was hit by car when Mei was 12, and she hasn't been able to own another pet since. Their foster parents always knew Mei's prother, Kaito, was a demon weapon (because of DNA tests or whatever conducted by the adoption agency when they were infants), but they let the children discover it on their own. They were around seven years old, when Kaito first turned into a As in your typical brother-sister relationship, Mei likes to irritate her quieter, four-minutes-older twin. In middle school, when she found out that Kaito had a crush, she promptly began to good-naturedly tease and bug him about it. But when they moved to Nevada to attend Shibusen, she quit. THE SECRETS I LET OUT Soul Resonance:
Performance: In battle, Mei always thinks things over before launching the attack. Her strategy, at least with teams, is to ambush the target like a pride of lions. Drive it into a trap. On her own, it’s about stealth paired with rapid-fire attacks. Strengths: -She's, uh, strong -Quick on her feet Weaknesses: -Even though she's got muscle, she never retained any of her self-defense teachings before DWMA. TIME FOR GYM CLASS, MEI-CHAN. She immediately regretted it, the plastic sticking to her skin and hair. "Hey, Four-Eyes," she called, huffing again. Her brother's bespectacled face appeared from the kitchen nook, his glasses covered with dust. He raised an eyebrow. "Yes?" "Remind me to take the blasted plastic off the couch tonight." Mei waved her hand so he could see were she'd settled. Her brother laughed and returned to his unpacking, wrestling the tongs from the toaster cord after removing the tangled mess from a carboard box labeled 'Kitchen' in flowery handwriting. "Well, remind me why we put the utensils in with the toaster and microwave." "'Cause it was convenient," Mei slurred. It was too damn hot. Why did they have to move to Death City in the middle of summer? She stood up from the couch, surveying their new apartment for the umpteenth time. Huge suede couch, facing a flat-screen TV sitting in a cabinet that waited patiently to be hooked up to whatever doohickey it was supposed to be, along with the DVD player. Peh, Kaito would know more about that. The (to be continued) Credit To: Death the Kid of SR |
