Basic skills , such as socializing, communicating, and using imagination, develop more slowly than usual. Cognitive abilities and language development are usually unaffected.
As a young child, Cable was considered a spoiled brat; he was rude, apathetic, and refused to interact with others. At least, that was the perception of most. Elementary school was a test of social skills, now that he would be exposed to many peers. His parents crossed their fingers and hoped their son would advance his social skills. However, he continued to avoid eye contact, slouch excessively, and stray from the group. He also stood out from the crowd by his unusual display of habits. While the kids played Cops and Robbers, Cable stacked blocks. While the kids sketched landscape scenes, Cable drew shapes and lines. While the kids chattered away, Cable sat quietly and stared. Was there an explanation for this behavior?
At age ten, after years of social difficulties, the boy was taken to a doctor and diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. A feeling of relief washed over him—he wasn’t stupid! He perceived the disorder as a separate being, a second party; he could not “control” this condition, but he could rebel against it. His parents were also comforted, now possessing knowledge about Asperger’s and how to deal with their son. This news, however, did not affect Cable’s social standing among his peers and teachers. He had not changed in any means, yet his classmates expressed their apprehension through avoidance and pity. They did not grasp the concept behind his disorder and believed his intellect had diminished as well.
This was not the case, for his grades and learning ability were steady. Nonetheless, his quirks were just as noticeable; he twisted and weaved his fingers around, he refused to eat meals off schedule, and he constantly clutched his teddy bear, Theodore. The stuffed animal was even carried around in a miniature baby carrier. Many gibed him for these actions, while others showered him with sympathy. Cable desired an escape from the socialization-centric community.
Lo and behold, he discovered the existence of Shibusen, an academy that focuses on combat skills. Could this be his sanctuary? Fighting, he mused, interaction through battle. Perhaps his peers would acknowledge him for his fighting skills, not just his social. After a prolonged discussion with his parents, he was finally given permission to apply. Admission soon followed, and Cable was off.

Performance: How does your character move in fight? What do they do? List strengths and weaknesses and battle style.
Cable isn’t a swingy, stabby kind of guy—he prefers to move as little as possible in combat. He uses a single strategy for all opponents: attack once, dodge thrice, attack once, dodge thrice. He will continue this pattern until he or the opponent is defeated. During prolonged battles, the enemy will most likely decipher this tactic, which will put Cable at a disadvantage. He will not attack unless he has dodged thrice, and he will not dodge unless he has attacked. The meister feels compelled to stick true to this technique because of the Asperger’s Syndrome.
However, his fortes are evading attacks and making use of his surroundings. He uses quick, short movements to avoid strikes, so don’t expect any florid leaps or spins. In battle, Cable attempts to utilize every aspect of the field to his advantage, but this process is often disregarded during fast-pace fights.
THE PUPPETEER Name: Chary Age: Not a geezer RP Experience: Four? Who knows. Password: Rainbow RP Sample: The halls were packed with a variety of characters, each receiving a good number of odd glances. Cable, on the other hand, was given a more extravagant present. A stifled laugh, an incredulous gaze, and many snickers: the contents of his gift, given personally by the students of Shibusen. He received these gestures with a blank mind. Why in the world was everyone staring? This was his first day at the Academy, yet many others shared the same experience alongside him. He probably stood out somehow, but he could not pinpoint the exact cause.
His physical appearance was nothing out of the ordinary, save his oddly-colored hair. However, a good chunk of the student body had bizarre hair colors; orange, blue, white—one guy even had stripes! His stature, perhaps? No, he came across huge, bulky individuals as well as scrawny toothpicks, and they all blended in with zero effort. His clothes were as bland as stale bread. Come on, who pops out wearing a T-shirt and jeans? He rarely spoke, so his voice was not the problem. How frustrating.
Throughout the whole day, he did his best to draw less attention to himself; he stood in the front of the group group, walked at a sluggish pace, avoided eye contact, and interacted as little as possible. Nonetheless, he was given the occasional taunt. “My god, what is that? Are you some kind of obsessive mom?” one meister jeered. Cable stared at the student’s feet and gave a rushed reply. “Er, sorry, but I’m not God. I hope you weren’t expecting him or anything. And, uh, I’m a guy, so I really shouldn’t be considered a mother. Plus, I don’t recall having sex in my lifetime.” Cue awkward silence.
A couple more hecklers approached him later that afternoon, as well as some curious students, but overall, the day ended without a hitch. Cable was still, however, uninformed about the reason behind those events, and this ignorance exasperated him. He did not realize how complex and social people were, especially at Shibusen. “They’ll get over it eventually,” he mumbled to Theodore, the teddy bear strapped securely to his back.
