Standing anxiously at the port, a pair of timid eyes stared out past the lenses of his glasses and across the coastline of the island. The Caribbean weather was warm, even this late in the evening when the sun was setting. But fortunately, a cool breeze managed to keep Ethan from burning up under the hot temperatures. However, while that may have been but one single problem solved, the fact was that he was on his first mission from Shibusen and he was very, very paranoid about it. It wasn't totally unsurprising, of course. Many people worried about their performance on missions. But this was Ethan. He was shaking in his shoes and shivering as though he was caught in a blizzard, though in reality he was only caught in his own fear.
Their mission was related to the massive shipwrecks all across the coastline. Someone, or something, had been attacking boats that tried to leave the island, a sort of Ghost ship that collected the souls of the departed for itself. If left unchecked, the collection of souls could eventually lead to the creation of another Kishin. But of course, that was why Shibusen existed - aside from training Meisters and Weapons to use their powers wisely, of course. The mission had been given to people who could take on this Ghost Ship and successfully take down the man who ran the Ghost Ship - a figure known only as Black Beard. Of course, Ethan was by no means the most confident Weapon. He just hoped the boundless optimism of his Meister was enough for the both of them.
"T-They say it's easier to see at night... B-because it has a ghostly blue glow..." Ethan mumbled, remembering some of the information they'd received upon their arrival at the island. It had mostly just been word of mouth, rumors passed around the town, but that didn't mean there couldn't be some truth to them. Even now as the sun was moving down over the horizon, he could see the faint figure of something in the distance in the water. He swallowed a lump in his throat and looked to his side, where his Meister partner was. Could they do it? Could they take on something so scary? Ethan was growing more and more paranoid by the minute just thinking about it. A small boat had been prepared for their journey to the Ghost ship, but no one in the town would help them sail, meaning they would have to row themselves out in the small dinghy.
Whilst Ethan worried constantly about their mission ahead of them, one of his hands fidgeted with the top button of his shirt. Though Ethan would prefer his baggy clothing, he had been forced to leave them behind for the mission due to the hotter weather. His shirt was short-sleeved and buttoned up, blue with black silhouettes of tropical trees. His trousers were three-quarter length and a light gray colour, whilst his arms folded in front of himself, looking almost as if he was hugging himself in a vain attempt to remain comfortable. He moved one of his hands up to fix the black-rimmed glasses on his face and peer out at the sea before finally looking back towards his partner again, hoping she had something to say that could help ease his nerves in any way.
"I-It looks like no one wants to go near it... I can't blame them..." he mumbled, remembering how no one on the island would willingly take them close to the Ghost Ship. Frankly, he wasn't entirely willing to get close himself. But he had to, because it was a mission and it was what partners did - work together.
