IT SEEMS TO ESCAPE ME Name:Gregory Michael Tamm Alias: Greg, Captain Hook (he hates both of these) Gender: Male Age: Eighteen Weapon Form: demon surgical hook
AS SEEN THROUGH THE SOUL Appearance: Gregory's weapon form, based on a standard surgical hook -- the kind they use to pry back various layers of tissue – appears at distance to be nothing more than a slender metal rod. About seven feet long and with a slight taper towards the hooked end, and it’s about four inches thick. The most important part of his weapon form, at least in Gregory’s eyes, is the wickedly curved hook at the thinner end of the shaft. It tapers to an almost impossible point, capable of tearing into even the most petrified flesh with ease. (Though, of course, Gregory prefers to deal with fresh meat.)
The metal that comprises his weapon form is a flawless stainless steel, the only distinguishing mark a lightly scratched “x” on the side of the handle. A few layers of medical tape wrap around the base just under this carving, denoting the slightly broader end as the “handle” and perhaps providing a better grip.

[-] acerbic [-] power-hungry [-] manipulative [-] cynical [-] morbid [-] emotionally withdrawn
Likes & Dislikes: [✔] puzzles - chess, sudoku, crosswords [✔] learning – astronomy, biology, death weapon training, experiments~ [✔] cold or overcast weather [✔] playing with the weak-minded [✔] sweet foods
[✘] summer – bright lights and sweating have never been favorites [✘] stupid people, or those uninterested in learning the sciences [✘] boredom (everything he does works to entertain him) [✘] poor logic – to the point that he will drop what he is doing to point out fallacies [✘] emotional bonding and friendly people
Notes: From the outside, Gregory might seem like a completely normal person – polite, reserved, with an appropriate sense of humor and personality. In fact, he’s often so ‘normal’ that he blends so well he might as well be invisible. This is on purpose, however – that is nothing but a very shallow layer of defensive mimicry.
If anyone bothered to look – which is often far from the case – they would see the depth of his personality. The insatiable curiosity, the sadistic desire to manipulate others, the rage-fueled loneliness; it’s only barely hidden. He fakes his manners brilliantly, however, and means well … most of the time.
His past is a largely uneventful one – Gregory was an only child, and never the social butterfly type. Though his family was known to carry Weapon genes, the trait had not shown up for several generations, and both of his parents were ‘regular’ humans. And for a while, everyone thought Gregory was ‘normal’ as well. (Though his father was openly disappointed by his son’s lack of friends.)
He was busy making a diorama of the tropical rainforest ecosystem for his eighth grade science class when the first inklings that he might be a demon weapon first hit him. And by inkling, of course, I mean a rather violent partial transformation – his arm stretched and grew into the curved hook of a surgical tool, causing all kinds of mayhem, destroying the mentioned diorama, and taking a good chunk of wallpaper with it as Gregory flailed around the kitchen.
His mother, who was secretly weaponphobic, had a difficult time hiding her conflicted emotions for her son – her love for him was still there, on some level, but the fact of his existence as a weapon, no matter how much good they might do for the world, set her on edge. They were dangerous; not to be trusted.
Already unliked by the majority of his peers, the rejection by his own mother was a bit too much to bear – his father eventually had him sent off to DWMA, so that he could train and learn to control himself. At first, Gregory was excited at this opportunity to learn and become stronger. He made it a mission to train as hard as he could, so that his mother could invite him back into her home… but as he progressed with his lessons, the boy grew to realize that relationship could never be entirely mended. Hakuna matata, right?
Easier in theory than application, however – like most major things in life – and he once more focused on his studies. This time, however, it was not about self-control, it was about the gaining of power, pure and simple. Though still waiting to be paired with a meister, Gregory considers his combat skills acceptable and always ensures that he is in tip-top shape. He figured that his continuing on as a weapon is acceptable in the grand scheme of things – he was helping to rid the world of evil, and even if his mother no longer wanted him, he would still be working for good. Though power-hungry, this fact alone keeps him relatively happy, as he is still growing towards the kind of son he imagines his mother would want.
THE SECRETS I LET OUT Soul Resonance:Gregory's partial transformation consists of warping either his hands or feet into the curved hook end of his full weapon form. Though the transformation could, in theory, extend further up his arm, the loss of his elbow joint would make fighting awkward and slow him considerably. - Resonance Name -

Performance: When partially transformed, Gregory's battle style is typically hand-to-hand. With his forearms transformed into sharp, metal, wickedly curved hooks, he can deliver damage by haphazardly slashing at his opponent. He can also use these hooks to jab at his opponent -- and if he hits just right, catch their skin (or any organ of your liking) and tear open a rather nasty wound.
Unfortunately, he does need to be within striking distance of his opponent. Though he can extend his reach by transforming his arm into the handle of the hook, any damage he does requires him to physically touch his opponent.
When used by a technician, as with most weapons, his strength is notably increased. He can be used generally as a sort of staff weapon, able to deliver blunt damage and increase the range of his partner by a considerable amount. Even an unskilled fighter can see the use in this, just like any idiot will realize the use of a bat.
Haphazard, blunt blows are not Gregory’s forte, however, and not his favorite of strategies. He is most damaging when used more like the surgical tool he resembles; digging his semi-maneuverable hook into his opponent and tearing back gaping wounds as his partner pulls him back. This requires a certain amount of aim and strength, however, as random flailing will do no more than painful surface wounds.
A skilled meister would be able to use both of these aspects to their benefit, alternately annoying the foe and slowly badgering down their health… and precisely moving forward to deliver a more lethal blow.
THE PUPPETEER Name: Jackal Age: Twenty RP Experience: Sevenish years? Password: Rainbowww 8D RP Sample: He sighed and looked at the scene he created once more, heart swelling with pride. It was calming in some sick, morbid way, how the blood glinted like an oil slick in the dull lighting. The rich metallic smell invaded his nostrils and he let his eyes drift shut, taking in everything before preparing to move off…
He barely heard the footsteps falling, racing towards him – he opened his eyes and started to turn, but too late, and then something had collided with the back of his skull. It might have well been a cement block shot from a cannon, for all the force he was struck with. Pain erupted through his spine; bright pinpricks of light dancing flashing behind his eyes. Gregory hardly even had time to bark out a surprised cry before his unnamed assailant turned and caught him in the stomach as he fell. The other man’s knuckles rammed against his sternum, missing their intended mark but knocking the breath out of him nonetheless.
His arm glowed and shifted, stretching and tapering to a fine, curved point to hook into the man’s mouth--
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrringgg The alarm interrupted his dream – nightmare? – in the most jarring fashion possible, and the weapon-in-training bolted upright. Heart pounding wildly as he slowly reclaimed his grip on reality, Gregory bowed his head and closed his eyes, running his fingers through his wild black hair as he forced himself to calm down. With all the tests coming up, it was no wonder he was having so many vivid dreams – stress did horrible things to the body.
Grunting reluctantly, he rolled from his low bed and padded soundlessly across the tiny dormitory room, hurrying to get dressed and prepared for the day’s classes. Clothing changed and hair brushed, he slid out the door with his bag slung effortlessly over his shoulder.
He crept through the narrow corridors, ghosting around clumps of gathering students; weapon and meister alike, he wanted nothing to do with them for the moment. Today, he needed to get to the library without interruption and continue his studies –
”Oh, excuse me, I’m sorry,” a voice assaulted him; the owner’s slender hand holding back his shoulder.
Fighting back a grimace, he turned to appraise his keeper: A frail-looking girl with slightly over-sized clothes, a brace of exam review books under her arm. ”Um, my partner picked these up for me, but… Well, I forget where the library is. Could you maybe point me there?”
It took nearly all of his willpower to not turn and stalk away: Instead, he smiled politely and took one of the thick volumes, tilting his head down the hallway. ”I was headed there right now myself, miss, perhaps you’d like to accompany me?”
The girl balked, unsure for a moment, before smiling just as broadly – though probably in a much more genuine fashion. ”Y-yes, I’d love to, actually. So – You’re a weapon?” She started conversationally as they headed down the hallway.
This was going to be a long, stressful day, indeed.
[ooc - … uh. xD I’m really bad about doing rp samples like this. When i’m actually in a thread and not winging it, things tend to come out muchhh better and not be quite so awkward or… strained. xD I think I showed some of his personality okay with this, but if it’s not up to par or you need more or whatever, I’m totally up for editing. 8D] Face Claim: DURARARA!, izaya orihara Credit To: Death the Kid of SR
