California, U.S.A., North America. The air was thick, and the once busy city of Los Angeles seemed to be as dreary as a dry piece of meat. Only few businessmen and women walked the streets, and those who did, did so in a hurry. Many were fleeing the city by car or by plane, to escape in any way they could. A single plane flew in towards the city's airport, with two passengers alone. Recently, rumors of a mass murder at a nearby amusement park had left everyone in shock. Soon, after a quick visit to the park, the suspicions of the citizens were confirmed. Police have done everything they could to get inside, but every attempt ended in another dead officer. Each body is displayed speared through the heart just outside the park. A last attempt at capturing the Kishin was a police copter above the amusement park, which was taken down, but those inside managed to catch a picture of the Kishin Egg, surrounded by a pool of blood. All citizens around the area are evacuating, leaving the city a ghost town. Posters of the monster are pinned up on every corner, and nobody is brave enough to track it down. Hardly any evidence has been gathered about the case, but most all of it as the local Los Angeles Police Department. This information is vital to success and defeat of the Kishin. Shinigami has decided to enroll two students to take care of the problem. Each are equipped with small communication devices, for speaking to one another and receiving orders from the Academy. Spirit, the Death Scythe, is in charge of relaying orders to the students. He speaks loud into the microphone as the plane lands, relaying this message to the two: "The Kishin doesn't seem to have any desire to leave the amusement park yet. Move quickly and gather information from the L.A. Police Department, then make your way to the park, before it makes its way out."OBJECTIVES- Gather as much info as possible at the L.A. Police Department.
- Make your way quickly to the Amusement Park.

IF YOU BELIEVE ITS IN MY SOUL❥I'D SAY ALL THE WORDS THAT I KNOW
She was dreaming again; thoughts and pictures dancing lazily into her head before waltzing back out, posing little or no importance to the sleeping girl at all, the only signs of their existence being the occasional twitch of her hand or leg. Maxine Fisher had been in this state for the near entire duration of the trip, the innards of the plane stuck in silence and serenity without her loud voice to disrupt it. In fact, the only ever sound she had made thus far (aside from the occasional snore) was when she had told her Meister to shut up 'cause she was going for a nap.
The peacefulness, however, was soon shattered.
The booming voice of Death Scythe-sama gave Max a sharp punch in the face before dragging her, kicking and screaming, out of her slumber, leaving the young girl dazed and disorientated, her foggy mind only managing to catch the last of his words. "... the L.A Police Department, then make your way into the park, before it makes it's way out." Frowning at her rude awakening, Max pressed her finger against the skull-shaped device that had been placed in her ear so as to send a reply. "Roger that," she croaked, stretching both arms in front of her, face contorting into a long, exaggerated yawn.
Oddly, that had been rather pleasant. Certainly not what she had been expecting considering the circumstances. After all, what kind of person slept, without disruption, for nearly two hours straight, knowing that they were about to start their first real mission against a full blown Kishin Egg? Max, that's who. Yet, however lax her face may have appeared, on the inside she was a turmoil of emotions. Fear, nervousness and doubt clashed together in waves, contrasting with the excitement and determination that came with being in a proper team. Not that herself and Ether had made much progress in the last few months since their first meeting. So far it had just been petty jobs around Death City - Cleaning windows, fixing roofs, finding lost pets... not exactly the 'adrenaline kicking all-out-action adventure' she had been hoping for. But there was one new highlight to Max's brand new lifestyle. Training. Hours of it. And while it did mean the odd bruise or cut, it was probably the most beneficial thing that had ever happened to her. She was fitter, happier and had no problem sparring against Ether... except when he won.
Jerking forwards slightly as the wheels of the plane hit the tarmac, Max wasn't exactly looking forward to leaving the confines of the plane. When they had been briefed on the mission beforehand back at Shibusen, the two of them had been showed the pictures that had been taken from the police helicopter, revealing the area they'd be going into. It wasn't exactly a pretty sight, and Max was completely aware of some peoples hesitance at sending such a small girl into situations like this one. But that wasn't important. She was at the Academy for a reason, and Max was sure not to leave anyone unaware of the fact she was a lot tougher than she looked.
Hands flexing out of habit, she unstrapped her seatbelt but remained firmly in her seat. They had come with nothing but the cloths of their backs, the intercoms in their ears and the knowledge that they were making the world a better place. Surely this task would scare anyone, not just her? But somehow Max found a way to push her fear aside and remember the training, the classes and bloodshed they'd pushed themselves through to get here. To finish what others couldn't, and help guide her Meister through obstacles he couldn't face alone. She was ready.
Breathing out through her nose, Max's eyes briefly fluttered shut before looking out the clear plastic window by her side.
Monochrome colours for miles around, the faintest hues of blood red splashed across the far horizon. Not exactly the most encouraging of sights.
Averting her gaze, the young girl hauled herself from her seat and stepped groggily into the aisle, the unnerving images of corpses on spikes and the bright blue souls of the innocent flashing through her mind. Ah, and how long had that headache been there for? Swallowing her insecurity, she steadied herself on the chairs next to her as the metal hulk she was encased in at last came to a stop.
The plane had landed with only two passengers. Max could only hope it was the same number on the return flight.
