Many humans stray from the path of light every day. Of these, many will walk the line in between light and dark, while others will regularly correct themselves and repent for their deeds. Those that don’t will continue to walk a path of lies, sin, and corruption. Even there, the few of a large sum plunge themselves head first into darkness and evil. The beings that do this, willingly or otherwise are typically called Asura’s. Asura’s walk a path like no other mortal full of violence, death, and destruction. When these beings interact with normal humans, the results can be life altering, if nothing else. Thus, our story begins…
Birth and a life of normalcy
Aclime was born in a large suburb near an even larger city. He was the oldest child, the first born, and as such, always took it from the day his first brother was born, to pave the way and be not only a good example, but a protector for the siblings who followed. This is what led Aclime to always fight for those he cared for, even in a losing situation. However, the problem always seemed to be that the ones he had to fight were larger or stronger than himself. This became a problem as he got just a bit older.
Persistence, at times, was a great virtue of his though. Rather than simply watch their oldest son get beaten up by larger kids, from an early age, he was brought to a dojo that taught panatukan, otherwise known as Filipino boxing. Why Filipino boxing? It was a somewhat uncommon martial art created in a country where most of its users were short, which seemed simple enough. By the age of nine, Aclime was already mildly proficient in the art. Rarely did he lose a fight after that.
Yet, with the ability of martial arts, to fight, came an obligated responsibility he failed to live up to. With how easily Aclime could get into a fight if his brothers were picked on, he began fighting for other reasons, like boredom. Eventually, he bad example caused his little brothers to become trouble makers in a school. He and his two little brothers were disciplined all together by their, Aclime the harshest. It was after that when Aclime began to mellow out considerably and rarely fought again.
As he began to mellow out, the nature of his personality began to reform into a classic water type personality. He became more relaxed and intuitive, and calming towards others. It was a forced change initially, then he fully transitioned into it. By the time he was 12. It seemed like he could solve any problem without resulting in violence. Thus, balance was restored, for the time being.
Kishin Asura-Descent into chaos
It seemed to occur over night. Aclime was 12. The night before, everything was peaceful and normal. The stars and the moon shined as they usually did, and the night was quite. Sometime in the early in the morning though, a weird vibe passed over the entirety of the city. The feeling came from a very far distance, but it left an unsettling vibe over everyone. When he awoke the next day, there was a new bulletin about a mass outbreak of crimes linked with mysterious mental diseases. This was in fact, the dawn after Asura’s revival.
The affects were minimal though, at the time, and Aclime continued to live a normal life. One day, there was a news report about a serial killer further up state, who had reportedly mass murdered an entire residential apartment building. All the victims were left mutilated or torched and he or she fled under the guise of night. Of course, a child of 12 thought, ‘that could never happen here’. Oh how wrong he was. The truth was, the whole occurrence was because of the insanity wavelengths unleashed upon the world.
Of course, Aclime would never find out till later, what kishins and kishin eggs were, but that’s what the mass murderer was. Sometime after the report, Aclime and his two brothers were at friend’s house for the night. Their parents were working late and didn’t want them alone. It was a rather large apartment complex and rather late at night. Footsteps could be heard in the hallway further down the hall between all the apartments. There was a loud thud and scape sound then silence. Everyone rose up alarmed, but Aclime was the only one to pick up on a sense of horror, dread and terror, that accompanied this presence.
A loud scream tore through the air, only to be cut short in an instant. Seconds later, a roaring fire started. Everyone immediately evacuated the complex, or rather, tried to once the fire alarm went off. As soon as people began to pile into the hallway, a very large and deformed vaguely human-like creature appeared. Immediately, 10 people died by some manner of form Aclime couldn’t see. Neither could his brothers or friends, as they attempted exiting the complex in the opposite direction of everyone else. And why? Because, if impending death had a feeling, a material form, and presence, Aclime had just felt it breathing down their spine.
Unfortunately, they were on the third floor, and by the time they’d made it to the first floor by the first by the back exit, it was blocked by fire. This feeling of dread got stronger, prompting Aclime to turn around by instinct. It was then that Aclime saw the creature. His first reaction was to run, which he immediately did, expecting everyone to follow suit. Instead, he looked back a second later to see that only his brothers had moved, while both his young friends were quite literally frozen in fear. What he saw next was a scene that would be etched into his mind perhaps forever.
Blood spurted everywhere. Both his friends were struck down and from their corpses, blue spheres, their souls, were removed and ingested by the creature. It was a grotesque sight that only Aclime had seen as they fled. They were almost at the front exit, with the creature right on their tails. Many other people made it out as well, but as it stood, this creature would kill everyone.
Aclime blinked, and the creature was in front of them. It struck viciously, and at that same time, Aclime shoved both his brothers away. He tried moving too, but it was too slow. Pain erupted through him as as something sharp cut into his forehead. He yelled in pain, gripping the origin of the pain, an eye and his forehead. He had to stay calm. But they were going to die now… right?
He told himself to stay calm, otherwise there was nothing he could do. Plus, it hurt a lot right now, and there was large trickle of blood, but unless he sped up the bleeding, he should die if he got medical attention. He turned and saw a person, someone that was not here moments ago fighting the creature. The creature was struck in half, and soon dispersed, leaving a red floating orb. Soon after that, Aclime began to black out. The blood loss itself wasn’t substantial, but as it was from his head, he immediately felt light headed.
When he awoke, it was sometime the next day inside a hospital. He was being treated for a laceration on his forehead and his right eye socket, as well as a serious concussion. It was summer though, so even though he had to stay in the hospital for a while and have regular checkups afterwards, there was no missing school. However, after the event, any new hair Aclime grew in was white. Aclime never spoke about any of the details of what he saw. Reportedly, it was so unworldly and traumatic, that the shock had cause all his hair to lose its pigmentation. Yet, even after Aclime had recovered enough from the shock to be considered normal and functioning, his color never returned.
Shibusen
Aclime entered his first year of high school then. But where did he go? Shibusen, of course. It was nearly a month after the event that occurred when a letter about an invite to a private school came in the mail. Who turns down what appears to be a scholarship to a high class school? Thus, Aclime enrolled almost immediately. He wasn’t even out the hospital yet when he finished the application details and such. When he did get cleared to leave, he immediately began packing, and within a week or two, moved into Shibusen as a freshman. After all, a change of pace a bit of distance from home was what he needed.
A change of pace indeed, as Shibusen was anything but normal, anything but something he’d seen before. Yet, it didn’t drive him away. He felt more like he’d just entered a hero in training academy or something out of a comic book. It was intriguing, and he felt kind of like he belonged here…. After a year of being in Shibusen and death city, Aclime managed to grasp a hold on the situation as well what he was brought here to do. Collect Kishin eggs, and raise a death scythe. If he could do anything about it, he’d prevent deeds like what happened that day from happening.

THE SECRETS I LET OUT
Soul Resonance:
Soul Menace
Soul menace is the act of driving one’s own wavelength through an opponent to achieve a desired effect. As the fundamental technique of using one’s own wavelength, Soul Menace fires the user’s wavelength through an opponent to cause internal damage and bleeding as its desired effect. As a focus of Aclime, Aclime is very proficient in making use of this ability. As he’s still learning to control the quickly tempered technique, his damage with the technique is mid at best, feeling as if one were hit with a large blunt wave.

Performance:
Naturally swift and agile, Aclime’s most often used style of combat with or without a weapon revolves around evading and countering. With his small frame and quick body he’s likely to wait for an opponent to attack or bait an opponent into attacking by attacking quickly himself. Once an opponent starts an attack, he’ll quick deduce the easiest way to avoid the attack, immediately launching an attack in the moment of vulnerability after the opponents attack fails. If an attack can not be evaded, for whatever reason, he proceeds to guard or parry the attack in a manner that reduces the harm he would receive. Basically, a defensive evasion based fighter.
While evasion is his preferred setting, when on the offensive, he prefers to strike many times, launching successive combos, at times from different angles, to make up for not being physically strong. Unarmed, Aclime tends to fight with mixed martial arts. His mixes are a combination of boxing, Filipino boxing, and whatever the hell else he can come with at the time. Naturally more of a quick slash type swordsman, his preferred weapon is something useable as a sword, ironically almost never at hand. When armed with such a weapon he is extremely dangerous, using his speed and tendency to evade to strike vulnerable parts of the body, attacking in an unorthodox manner. Armed or unarmed, Aclime is almost always in motion, and always light on his feet.
As a user of soul purge abilities, Aclime is proficient enough to toss in some of these abilities amidst unarmed and armed combat, mixing the three together decently well. However, this well flowing, if not unorthodox and unpredictable, combat is all to make up for his lack of overwhelming physical strength. While his combos can wear down and disorient most with relative ease, the only way he could create a fight ending blow would be to strike at the most vulnerable areas of a body.
Unfortunately, without an abnormal amount of strength, Aclime’s short commings as a fighter is that while he can both attack and defend with relative ease, he’s at a disadvantage if an opponent can keep him out reach, as he has a very small reach with only his arms. In addition, because he’s a small fighter, he expends more energy in a drawn out fight then most. Lastly, he has a lower resistance for taking direct hits, so when it hurts, it hurt bad.

Class was dismissed for the day. The evening’s first stars were showing on backdrop of violet. There were no clouds, yet the moon didn’t show. It must have been a new moon tonight, not that it made much of a difference. It was death city, after all. Perhaps there were a few troublesome kids here and there, the occasional mugger, but there were no kishin eggs or witches within the city. Well, the stars were pretty, as there were no clouds this night as well.
The time was 8 pm and Aclime was on his way home. He’d stayed out a bit too long, catching a late night meal at a diner. Details aside, it was good nourishment, with a pretty decent taste. As he sauntered back toward his dorm, he thought about finding a partner. After all, the point of being here was to become a good meister, and raise a deathscythe. It’s kinda hard to accomplish that second task without a demon weapon partner. His train of thought was snapped away when he bumped into some taller than himself.
“Hey kid, watch where you’re going.”
“Sorry, my sincerest apologies,” Aclime replied and quickly walked around the man, only to be stopped moments later. Great… I know how this plays out. He’ll insist that I’ve done something horrible deserving compensation or punishment and he’ll either want to fight or take all my money. Oh well, guess I’ll just make this quick.
“Kid, you just scuffed my brand new shoes. You just gonna walk away without offering me a new pair?” When Aclime turned to the man, he figured he was right. There was that same characteristic smirk of a street thug and con artist.
“Here’s five dollars sir. If I’ve scuffed your shoes, that should be enough the buy a polishing and buffer kit. I’m sure it’ll come right out. Good luck…” Giving a polite smile, Aclime turned on his heels and began his trek back home, only to be stopped once more, within three steps. If that didn’t do it, there was always THAT strategy.
“You cheeky little brat! Don’t toy with me!”
That was the sign. Not a moment later, the pattern of footsteps sped up as the man advanced. Again, Aclime expected such, and was even used to being the defender, but he had to do this as quick as possible. In a single simultaneous motion, he moved his right arm upward and pivoted. As he turned around, he could see the man, and his fist thrown forward. Without stopping the pivot, he adjusted the height of the hand to intercept the man’s fist.
What he ended up with, was a powerful gunting movement, which knocked the man’s fist out the way and threw off his center of gravity. From there, Aclime threw his left hand with all his might, using the same momentum of the pivot to strengthen the blow. Just as it would have hit, he pulled back, inches from the man’s face. The result was a soft pelt of the displaced wind, causing the man to flinch and back away.
Taking the opportunity, Aclime spoke, in a very calm manner, “I believe it was kind of me to offer any kind of compensation when you address the way you have. However, that could have been your face. Please, don’t make me hurt you just so I can go home for class in the morning.” For a moment, there was dead silence, and then the man took off, with his 5 dollars. It wasn’t that big of a loss, and Aclime was pleased that he didn’t have to hurt someone over nothing today. The rest of the trek home was peaceful enough. When he got home, all that awaited was sleep, then the daily grind of Shibusen.
